The Care Bears were a massive part of my childhood. I still have my original Good Luck Bear from the 80s and I also bought the new release version! I didn't choose him for this mani though. I picked Cheer Bear, Bedtime Bear, Grumpy Bear and Love a Lot Bear

Bedtime Bear is a very sleepy bear. He helps everyone get a good night's sleep and have sweet dreams and often talks with a yawning voice. He is aqua blue and his symbol is a blue, sleeping crescent moon with a yellow hanging star.

Cheer Bear is a very happy and perky bear, who helps everyone be their happiest and cheer up those who are unhappy.She is pink and her tummy symbol is a rainbow.

Grumpy Bear shows that while it's okay to be grumpy sometimes, it is also silly to let grumpiness go too far. He is blue with a raincloud with raindrops and hearts as his symbol.

Love-a-Lot Bear is a bear who helps spread love and help it along wherever she goes. Her tummy symbol is a red heart with a pink outline and a pink heart with a yellow outline intertwined

I'll be honest, these looked better in my head than they turned out. I am definitely going to invest in some acrylic paint because I think that would have been much easier to manipulate. The polish took so long to dry!

All tummies are ELF white, eyes are ELF Black.

3 Nail Challenge - Ultra Modern

I'm not gonna lie, I found this theme super challenging until I stumbled across this ring online. 

I was drawn to the simplicity which is what reminds me of ultra modern interior decor too.

So using after a base coat I used a coat of silver from my Fearne Cotton for Boots set (which has made a lot of appearances lately ha). On top of that 2 coats of Hedy's Manishma holographic in blaster. When that was all dry I added in the blue striping tape and then made silver tips.

My hands look so dry in these pics, they aren't that bad in real life :/ Plenty of hand cream ( Soap and Glory Hand food) tonight.

The next theme is futuristic and if I can get it right this could be very cool!

50th post!

Wow! It's my 50th post. I thought it would take me a lot longer to get here. Thanks to each and every one of  you who reads these posts and for all your lovely comments.

After the decadence of my 3 Nail Challenge mani today I have something a little simpler.

Here are the tools I used.

After a base coat I used two layers of Wet n Wild's 54321 which is a gorgeous metallic teal. BUT I decided to use ELF's matte top coat to give a less shiny look. Then using a dotter and silver from Fearne Cotton for Boots  I created the flowers. A dot of top coat in the centre helps the rhinestones stick.

Needs a bit of a clean up to finish the look

First day of 3 Nail Challenge

Today being the 1st of September (ALREADY?!?) marks the first challenge of the 3 Nail Challenge with the theme of antique.

When I read the themes I had a little idea of what I would want to do for today 

This brooch is usually found on the collar of my blazer. As much as I'd like to call it antique it isn't really.

Striping tape manicure

Well this is another look that I love... but that I just CAN'T master. This is the third attempt I've made since getting my tape and is the best so far.

After a base coat I used Fearne for Boots pale pink for the tips. 2 full nail coats and a third coat from about half way to the tip. The middle stripe is ELF Bubblegum. I used the side of the brush to go across the width of my nail. The 'cuticle' layer is Collection 2000 'Hot Looks' in Siren.

So with a tricolour nail I took my striping tape, magenta between Siren and Bubblegum and silver between Bubblegum and Pink. I use a small nail scissors to cut the tape, I always cut more than I need and place along the edge of the blended colours. Sometimes I use a tweezers to help control the tape too.

Top coat keeps it all in place.

So here it is, the lesser of the 3 striping evils. Like most things it is just going take practice and patience.

Fun with fimo

In my haul from lightinthebox.com I got a bundle of fimo canes. Having only ever used fimo once from a precut wheel I figured it was about time I attempted something.

I seem to have accumulated a few pink polishes which I rarely use and noticed that there were a few different canes that matched.

I used my trusty 2true base coat and decided on a kind of gradient. It would have been better with a sponge. I used Fearne Cotton for Boots pink for the first layer, then bubblegum pink and fluro pink by Elf. Perhaps 2 coats would have been more effective.

I then scatered my fimo, cut by my own fair hand, across my nails with one of each on my thumb, I used top coat so will see how long they stay secure for. I need to work on my cutting because some of the pieces are way too thick but hey practice makes perfect!

My treasure chest

I'm giving my nails a breather at the moment. I've noticed that they're chipping so after a good clean and a buff and shine I'm just wearing a clear coat. Today's post is photo heavy but it means I get to show off my treasure.

This is the treasure chest. It's a £3.99 clear lided arts and crafts box from Home Bargains.



The Junk - Nail Stickers, Glitter, Pearls, Cuticle Pushers, Paint Brushes, Toe Dividers, Glue, Sequins, Nail Files and Tooth picks. The Green Sequins, Pearls and Glitter were freebies when I got my Nail Art Pens. All the stickers came from ebay.

Bargains - Nail Wraps in Gold, Leopard Print and remaining Silver ( I used the silver....I am still not sure about them) They're from Home Bargains and cost something like 69p. My Jewel wheel was about £2 from ebay. Below that is a Fimo wheel of love hearts and stars which I got in town for £1.99, the confetti next to it was £1!!
Dotters are from ebay, the nail files in the pink pouch were a christmas gift. The False nails I bought a while back after having my gles taken off and suffering withdrawal symptoms. These are the last ones I have and it's unlikely I'll use them now I have the tools to do my own patterns.

So that's it. My babies. The only trouble is that it isn't really portable, but hey I don't go too far without some form of polish. What's an outfit without pretty nails!
