Snowy scenes

Ahh the christmas break is here! So what better time to get a snowy manicure!

I used Colour Club foils in Cold Metal and Lumin-icent sponged over barry m white. When they dried I added a top coat and dug out my acrylic paints for the snow flakes and threw in a few rhinestones too.

Enjoy!

A little more Halloween

Well I couldn't stop at one!

I finally bought some acrylic paint - it's a little bit life changing! So much easier to work with than polish, and if you make a mistake a touch of water solves the problem,

For this I used Barry M White (all white), Collection Purple Rain (Witch's hat), NYC Black (Vampires's hair) and acrylic for the rest

Here the polishes I used  are Barry M White, NYC Black, and 2True Nude, the rest is acrylic.

The most important thing I've learnt while dabbling with acrylic is once it's dry to apply a thickish layer of top coat so the design is protected.

The inspiration came from IHaveACupCake on YouTube

I hope you enjoy and I hope to be back real soon with some fresh new ideas

Pink Wednesdays for a good cause

I notice round the bloggersphere that Wednesdays are when everyone wears pink and since October is also Breast Cancer Awareness I can not think of a better way to wear pink

I used OPI Excuse Moi and Collection White Ice on the accent finger, then I attached rhinestone ribbons with Color Club topcoat

Cancer is a horrific disease that has affected my family, I lost my Grandsha 13 years ago to it. I've been a supporter of cancer charities for years and wearing this mani hopefully will get people talking as well as my new John Cena tshirt since WWE are giving all profits from the "Rise above Cancer" merchandise to a breast cancer charity.

To those who have experienced any form of cancer, themselves or a family member, I send massive hugs and love. The more money that can be raised towards funding research so less people have to go through this awful disease the better.

And that's the end of the challenge! I hope you've enjoyed following the challenge. I've really liked finding new inspiration from all these wonderful ladies.

3 Nail Challenge - Futuristic

Apologies for this being late, I've been away for the weekend.

For this one I worked completely outside of the box!
Futurama is created by Matt Groening of The Simpsons and follows Fry who wakes up in the 31st Century after being cryogenically frozen. I love Leela, mostly because I always wanted purple hair but also because she stands up to the boys! Bender the robot is also very funny and that's why I chose these two characters to keep Fry company on my nails. My pinkie and thumb are kinda what the title card looks like.
For this look I used:
2true base coat
ELF nude
ELF Black
ELF White
For Fry's hair NYC Orange
For Leela's hair Collection 2000 Purple Rain
For Leela's lips ELF Fluro pink
For Bender Color Club Lumin-Icent
Thumb/Pinkie Wet n Wild Denim Chrome & a blue striper pen
Collection 2000 Top Coat

I am so pleased with how Leela turned out! Fry not so much, I think I made his head too wide!

I hope you've enjoyed these, more from the 3 Nail Challenge tomorrow, don't forget to check out the other bloggers taking part.

Nail stickers FAIL

Before I really got into nail art I started buying bits and bobs off ebay. These are possibly the most awful stickers. They came in a strip of 20 and you cut them out and peel off the backing strip. Ugh. They're such a PITA to cut around, I really couldn't get much closer without chopping the bloody thing in half.
I remember now why I've not used them since the first time! Maybe its just me :/ They were ok for last night though, but didn't last much longer than that (pretty much washed off while I was doing dishes this morning) This is them over Color Club's Antiquated.

See how ugh they are!
In other news, I've signed up to take part in the 3 Nail Challenge hosted by the lovely ladies over at Mateji. It starts on September 1st and will be my first ever challenge! There are lots of other talented bloggers involved too so be sure to check them out. I've got a great idea for the first theme!

Nubbies!

Apologies for the weekend's silence, my boyf and I seem to have been out more than at home this week!
I had a bit of a casualty with my thumb nail this morning so cleaned off my weekend polish (color club's foil me once) and trimmed down all my nails.
So now I'm scouting for some inspiration, and will be back later tonight with whst I come up with

Beaded mermaid

Turns out the definitely not caviar manicure is a bit of a pain in the butt. I am undecided whether I like it or not, maybe it's because of the colour. The green is slightly off what I thought it was. The beads were part of some freebies I got from an ebay seller.

More fun with fimo with added teddy bear

I wanted to do something different after the weekend of Lemon Cream which has featured Olly and Batman (as seen on my instagram, which you're welcome to follow I'm Tinks_1983).
So today I hauled my kit out and found my fimo sticks from light in the box

In the 100 were were two cute teddy bear sticks. Using 2true shade 9 as backing for the fimo nails and colour club Antiquated for the rest I set about creating.

After the 2true polish dried I spread a thin layer of clear polish (also from light in the box....I seem to have lost my Collection 2000 one) and before it dried added the fimo on top. Once complete another layer of top coat seals it all in. Antiquated gets a top coat too.
These photos were taking about 2 hours ago, I've cooked dinner and washed up too, and all the fimo is still there!

I love the foiled collection, its just so shiny.

Color Club Cold Metal Stamped!

After swatching my Color Club set at the weekend I settled on a full mani of Cold Metal. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they lasted and how sparkly they are. This morning I decided after two full days of blue to change it up a little.
I used ELF white and a new plate I got off of ebay. I think the flower is very pretty. I do enjoy stamping!
I should mention that my pointer finger nail suffered an injury yesterday....and it bloody hurt!

Nails on a budget

When I started reading nail blogs I often found myself (and still do) coveting "posh" products, you know, polishes you just can't buy in Superdrug or Boots. Pretty sparkly polishes that are clearly (as a student) out of my price range.

I'd seen Color Club on another blog (sorry I don't remember specifically whose) and it was a brand that I took a liking to. I looked online and just couldn't afford to get a bottle (or 6). Until I walked into TK Maxx on Saturday.
