3 Nail Challenge - Favourite Emotion

Hello my lovlies. When I saw favourite emotion in the challenge list I knew what I would do straight away

Source

The Care Bears were a massive part of my childhood. I still have my original Good Luck Bear from the 80s and I also bought the new release version! I didn't choose him for this mani though. I picked Cheer Bear, Bedtime Bear, Grumpy Bear and Love a Lot Bear

Bedtime Bear is a very sleepy bear. He helps everyone get a good night's sleep and have sweet dreams and often talks with a yawning voice. He is aqua blue and his symbol is a blue, sleeping crescent moon with a yellow hanging star.

Cheer Bear is a very happy and perky bear, who helps everyone be their happiest and cheer up those who are unhappy. She is pink and her tummy symbol is a rainbow.

Grumpy Bear shows that while it's okay to be grumpy sometimes, it is also silly to let grumpiness go too far. He is blue with a raincloud with raindrops and hearts as his symbol.

Love-a-Lot Bear is a bear who helps spread love and help it along wherever she goes. Her tummy symbol is a red heart with a pink outline and a pink heart with a yellow outline intertwined

I'll be honest, these looked better in my head than they turned out. I am definitely going to invest in some acrylic paint because I think that would have been much easier to manipulate. The polish took so long to dry!

All tummies are ELF white, eyes are ELF Black.
Bedtime bear is NYC Water Side Blue
Cheer Bear is Fearne Cotton for Boots Pink, the rainbow is Collection 2000 Red, NYC Orange, NYC Yellow, Yashali Green, NYC Water Street Blue
Grumpy Bear is Rimmel Azure
Love a Lot Bear is Collection 2000 Hot Pink

3 Nail Challenge - Favourite Book

Reading is probably my favourite thing in the world. To be able to escape to another place is just amazing.
For this challenge I had so many ideas! In the end I picked the books I've beenbreading with my niece.
Here we have Little Miss Giggles, Mr Tickle, Little Miss Naughty and Mr Greedy.

I used ELF Nude as a base and any black is also ELF

Little Miss Gigles is NYC Water Street Blue and Collection 2000 Hot Looks Red. Her Bows and Nose are NYC Lemon Cream

Mr Tickle is Barry M Tangerine and Water Street Blue for his hat

Little Miss Naughty is Collection 2000 Parma Violets mixed with ELF White to make the lilac colour. Her bow is yashali Green

Mr Greedy is a white base covered with Primark Neon Pink

Today's post is sponsered by the letter L and the number 9

I maybe 28 but I have little intention of being a grown up any time soon.  When I heard Elmo was going to be on British tv and radio this week I was beyond excited. So this weekend I bring you Sesame Street!

It wasn't easy. There are a lot of colours and some I mixed. I really need to get some nail art brushes since most of this was done with a dotting tool.

I started with 2true base coat, my pinkie Oscar the Grouch is made with a blend of Yashali Green and ELF white. ELF white and black make the eyes and ELF chocolate for his eyebrows. I used a black striper for all mouths.

Bert is on my ring finger. Made of an old NYC yellow (i114a) for his face, for his nose I mixed the yellow and an NYC orange (i112a). Eyes and mouth same as Oscar, the striper was also used for his brows and hair

Middle finger is Earnie's place. NYC orange, a black striper for his hair, eyes and mouth as before. For his nose I used the orange and added a touch of red.

Cookie Monster is on my pointer, NYC Water Street Blue. Eyes and mouth as before.

Elmo is my thumb. Collection 2000 Hot looks Red (the name has rubbed off the bottle). His nose is the same as Bert's and eyes and mouth are the same as all.
My right hand is a mix of all dots since my freehanding isnt as good with my left.

So there we have it. I love the idea of putting characters on my nails, and the half circles make it easier than a full nail I think. My task this week will be to make lists of who I want on my nails. Got a suggestion? Drop me a comment.
As always if you like what you see, please subscribe for more updates. Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

Blossom Nails

I am often in awe of what the wonderful ladies of the nail polish blog universe can turn their hands too. I sometimes struggle with translating the final images into steps in my head.

That's when I head to youtube.

This morning in a quest for inspiration I headed over to youtube and pulled up a nail art search. I stumbled across CutePolish's tut for cherry blossom nails and fell in love with the design. So I gave it a go!

While mine are no where near as proffesional looking, for a first attempt I'm happy..well aside for the smudges from my black striper after adding top coat.

For this look I used Yashali Mint, ELF Fluro Pink and Bubblegum pink, a black striper pen and base and top coat. To make the blossoms I used a medium sized dotting tool.

I am determined to work on my freehanding. I think I'm still a little heavy handed at the moment but I'm sure I'll get it right soon.

The Big Bang Theory nails

I'm excited to show these. Challenged by a friend to make a Big Bang Mani I didn't think I'd pull it off. They're not perfect but it's my first time to try free hand drawing.

The inspiration came from the official facebook page cast photos.
Pinkie - Raj. Based on his shirt and sweater combo. I used NYC Yellow, ELF White and Chocolate.
Ring finger - Leonard. Based on his jacket glasses and recycle tshirt. I used Color Club Perfectly Mol-ten, Yashali Green and a black nail art pen.
Middle finger - Sheldon. Basedl on his Flash tshirt. I used ELF Red Velvet and white, NYC yellow and outlined it with a black striper.
Pointer - Howard. Based on the jumper he's wearing in the cast photo. For this I used Collection 2000 Parma Violets and the black striper.

As much as I like each one my favourite is my thumb. I wanted to represent Penny but wasn't sure how. Then it popped into my head. Whenever I think of Penny I start singing "Soft Kitty". I painted a base of Ciate Bon Bon and mixed up a grey using ELF white and some black from my striper. Using a small paintbrush I painted a kitty face. When dry I added a nose using ELF Bubblegum and added some features with the striper.
So what do you think??

Thursday night nails

I think I've turned my niece into a polish addict too. I did her nails last night, just a neon pattern but she's on trend I suppose haha.
It did however mean that I didn't have a great deal of time to do my own. So instead of going out with bare nails I used my quick fix.
2 coats of Yashali mint topped off with Barry M nail effects in white. Nice and easy and quick so I could actually be on time (I wasn't, I changed my eye makeup and outfit multiple times.)
I like the combination and like that its easy - it used to be my go to manicure before I got into nail art

Green Ombre

Ombre is another trend I really like. It can be done as a gradient on each nail or flow across the hand. Since I seem to have acquired multiple green polishes I went with the flow style.
Starting from the thumb : Yashali shade 74, Wet n Wild 54321, Elf Teal, Yashali shade 20, Elf mint cream. I was a little annoyed at myself because Shade 20 and Mint Cream look like different shades in the bottles but when on they're a pretty close match.

Galaxy nails.....nothing to do with chocolate!

This trend has caught my eye over the last few weeks and I never thought I'd be brave enough to try it.
But today I am.
There are so many layers to this style. I started with a lick of base coat topped with 2 layers of ELF's Black. Once dry I added in a coat of Twinkle, also by ELF, to represent the distant stars.
Now the fun part! Taking a make up wedge (a tip for sponging I got from Sammy) I sponged some ELF White polish on. Once dry I used NYC 'S Water Street Blue to sponge some accent colour. Some more drying time before sponging Yashali's holograpic blue (more details can be found in my post about light in the box) across all my nail giving a other worldly feel (the photo doesnt do it justice).
Some more drying time and a slick of top coat brought it all together before some strategic layering of Technic's Carnival to finish off as planets and stars. Another layer of top coat makes the whole mani feel smooth.
*phew*
I can't wait to show this off tonight.

Wrestling

For those who don't know I'm a huge fan of wrestling. On Sunday it was this months ppv, so I did my nails for the occasion.

John Cena is one of my current favourites. His current TShirt is bottle green.

As part of my light in the box order I got a yashali green which was a perfect match!
I used my alphabet stamp and threw in a few rhinestones.
Pretty simple and cheered up my Sunday :)
